Lord's Supper Observance

Sunday, March 31  | 10:15 AM | Main Sanctuary
Bethel will observe the Lord's Supper during the morning Worship Service.

What is the Lord's Supper? The Lord's Supper is one of the two ordinances Jesus commanded His church to observe.  On the night Jesus was betrayed, He took the bread and the cup, and instituted for His followers a new meal which would commemorate pictorially His body broken and His blood spilled to save us from our sin and guilt.  This special meal is only for baptized believers, those who have come to trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.  It is observed as a church, not merely as an individual, family or small group, but as a local body of believers.  The bread and cup do not convey saving grace to us but rather, in keeping with 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, they remind those who have already received saving grace that the sacrifice of Jesus is what saves us from our sins.  This meal proclaims the Lord's death as the atoning sacrifice for our sins and it looks forward to His return.
